“What we call complexity is often just incomplete understanding.”
Jason Kennedy is the founder of JasonIT, a fiercely independent IT consultancy focused on helping people and organisations build reliable, secure digital systems. Since starting the business in 2010, he has worked closely with a wide range of clients – from residential users needing help with everyday technology to businesses implementing modern cloud platforms and complete website ecosystems.
With a career in IT spanning nearly two decades, Jason combines deep technical expertise with a strong understanding of how technology supports real-world business operations. Alongside running JasonIT, he also works as a Senior Technical Manager where he leads a specialist team responsible for supporting and enhancing large-scale enterprise learning platforms and cloud services.
His work has ranged from delivering major technology migrations and managing complex vendor relationships to designing operational frameworks that keep large systems stable, secure, and scalable.
Throughout his career he has maintained a strong focus on mentoring others, improving processes, and translating technical complexity into practical outcomes.
Outside of work, Jason enjoys spending time with his two young kids – signing twinkle twinkle little star and playing ‘run, run, run” alongside renovating, learning piano, and of course, video games!
My Humble Beginnings
I started my career in IT in 2009, working at the Salvation Army running their small IT department and assisting the RTO with delivering Certificate I and II in IT to members of the public. After awhile I noticed a pattern emerging, one that I didn’t expect, and one I certainty didn’t like. When people graduated and left our buzzing room of care and needed further IT support – they received poor, profit driven service and lost all their confidence because of it. This was not okay, so I came up with a simple philosophy:
Business is better when there is a face to a company name, a real voice behind the call, and a human on the other side of that email.
This passion lead to to creation of JasonIT, a reliable, friendly, human-centered IT support endeavor that people could have on speed dial. This philosophy has shaped how I approach technology, how I structure my business, and the way I work with clients ever since.
Nearly two decades later – I continue to run JasonIT while working in a senior technical manager role supporting enterprise cloud platforms. This combination of enterprise experience and hands-on consulting allows me to bring both strategic thinking and practical expertise to the local businesses I support.

My Approach
My work in IT centers around these three pillars. Understanding systems, solving problems, and helping people make sense of technology. These three areas reflect the skills I rely on most when supporting clients and building reliable digital platforms. I am fully ITIL certified, and will not only give you want you want, but also want you need.
Problem Solving
Most IT challenges are not truly complex, they are just systems that aren’t fully understood yet. My focus is identifying root causes, simplifying problems, and implementing solutions that address the issue properly rather than temporarily masking it.
Design
Good system design and architecture is about clarity, structure, and maintainability. Whether building a website or structuring a system, the goal is to create something that works reliably, is easy to manage, and scales as the business grows.
Education
Technology works best when people understand it. A large part of my role is helping clients make sense of systems, risks, and decisions so they can confidently manage their digital platforms. Clear explanations often prevent bigger problems later.
